Mirror Therapy – Your Most Powerful Spiritual Practice
A free and effective spiritual practice in your daily life.
I first learned about mirror therapy from spiritual teachers like Louise Hay and Ruowen Huang. It is the act of looking deeply into your own eyes in a mirror while speaking affirmations or processing emotions.
I practised mirror therapy at two distinct levels: Self-Affirmation and Deep Emotional Healing for 1 year in 2025. They are free and powerful. For me, spiritual development isn’t just about learning knowledge. It is about applying it to your reality and making your daily life better. Whether you are affirming your beauty or apologising to your liver for working it too hard, consistency is key.
Mirror therapy is such an accessible but effective spiritual practice to change your universe. Try it out!
Level 1: Self-Affirmation
Many of us struggle with "lacking energy"—the fear that we don't have enough money, time, or love. Self-Affirmation mirror therapy really helps shift our mindset in miraculous ways. It can easily change how you think of yourself, and this also means your vibration increases. This can also benefit your manifestation.
Recently, I had to see a Chinese medicine doctor for sleep issues, and the medicine cost around $300 every week. At first, I thought, "My God, I am losing so much money." But by using this spiritual practice with the sentence ‘I am abundance itself‘, I shifted my mindset naturally to, "Yu-Han. You are actually super abundant because you can buy good medicine for your body."
How to Practice Self-Affirmation with Mirror Therapy:
Strip Down: I encourage you to stand in front of a full-body mirror naked (or in your underwear). This removes all masks, revealing your true physical self.
Make Eye Contact: Look directly into your own eyes. Your eyes are the windows to your soul; this connection is vital.
The Magic Words: Start with the simplest, but most important, sentence: "I love you."
Repeat: Say it at least three times.
Please do it daily, or on the majority of days of the week, for at least 21 days. 21 days form a habit.
Once you feel comfortable, add more! I tell myself, "You are so sexy, you are so cute," and recently, "I am abundance itself." When you believe it, your body language naturally begins to radiate that energy to the world.
If you start with "I love you," after two weeks of doing this spiritual practice daily, you will feel the love start to bubble up from your heart rather than needing to seek it from the outside world.
Level 2: Healing the Inner Child and Your Body
The second level of this spiritual practice is about releasing suppressed energy.
In October 2024, I was diagnosed with glaucoma. Spiritually, eye issues often relate to things we "don't want to see." I realised I had been suppressing disappointments and my own needs and emotions since I was a child to be a "good girl. For example, when I was recording this video, I realised I was holding onto decades of disappointment that I didn't go on my dream graduation trip to Egypt because my father persuaded me not to.
How to Practice mirror therapy to release suppressed energy or emotion:
Identify your inner child: For example, in October 2024, I was diagnosed with glaucoma. Spiritually, eye issues often relate to things we "don't want to see." I realised I had been suppressing disappointments and my own needs and emotions since I was a child to be a "good girl. Therefore, I was reviewing whether there was anything I had suppressed and did not want to see. When I was recording this video, I realised I was holding onto decades of disappointment about not going on my dream graduation trip to Egypt because my father persuaded me not to. Strip Down: I encourage you to stand in front of a full-body mirror naked (or in your underwear). This removes all masks, revealing your true physical self.
Make Eye Contact: Look directly into your own eyes. Your eyes are the windows to your soul; this connection is vital.
Speak to your inner child (yourself in the past who felt hurt…etc) or a specific organ (like your liver or eyes) to calm their emotions and let them know they have you now. I recommend combining this step with Ho’oponopono (the Hawaiian practice of forgiveness) as follows (I use my example ):
Thank you: "Thank you, uni Yu-Han, for bearing this disappointment for so long."
I’m sorry: "I’m sorry I didn't see your pain sooner."
Please forgive me: "Please forgive me for not prioritising your dreams."
I love you: "I have your back now. You are not alone.
4. Let the Tears Flow: When you do this, yoau might cry. Cry out loud. Those tears are a sign that you, the youngerself, who felt hurt, have finally been seen and healed. It doesn't matter if the trauma seems "small" to others; if it hurt your inner child, it matters.
5. Repeat: You may need more than one mirror therapy session with the same inner child, as they might be there for decades. Be patient, and no need rush. You don't need to force it every day. Trust your intuition to tell you when you are ready to face the mirror again.
For me, spiritual development isn’t just about learning knowledge. It is about applying spiritual practice to your reality and improving your daily life. Whether you are affirming your beauty or apologising to your liver for working it too hard, consistency is key.
